PTO Board Meeting Minutes – 9/5/2018
Attendance: Jeff Shuemaker, JaLyn Christensen, Amanda Cole, Billie Maxwell, and Marie Steffensen.
Excused: Kathie England

  • It was noted that we need to have the PTO tab on the website updated with current PTO news. We will adjust the morning PTO meeting to start for the Board at 9:00 AM and for the public at 9:30 AM. The evening meeting will remain unchanged with the Board starting at 5:30 PM and 6:00 PM for the public. It was decided that Jeff Shuemaker will this updated information to Laurel to make the updates.
  • Fall Festival will include games at booths and prizes for raffles. It will be advertised on Facebook and the Flyer App. Food Vendors will donate between 5-10% back to the school. It was Decided that Jeff Shuemaker will contact Vanessa Keyes to login to SignUp Genius to get the contact list for the Fall Festival Committee members. The Committee will meet on Friday, September 7 at 3:15 PM.
  • It was decided to hold off on budgets until budget meeting the following day.
  • Overall the Back to School Night was received pretty well. We had very informative tables/booths. We liked that the School Board and PTO Board were all easily recognized in matching shirts. One improvement would be to publicly announce the raffle winners publicly.
  • The Book fair was discussed and a meeting will be held with the committee within a week. Book Fair will occur during Parent-Teacher Conferences 9/26 and 9/27. Set up will occur on the 24th and Preview will be on the 25th. It has been decided to not include a cookbook or toys.
  • Parent-Teacher Conferences will be held on 9/26 – 9/27 and 3/13-3/14. Marie will take care of dinner on the 2nd night and the PTO will provide dinner on the 1st night. The PTO will also provide snacks on the 2nd night (this will be Roxberry night in the spring).
  • Volunteering was covered. It was decided that we should communicate the benefits that the school receives from tracking hours. Also, it was brought up that we should communicate that we are a kid-friendly school and you are welcome to bring non-school-age kids with you when you volunteer.
